Lot 73: A Pair of Edwardian Sterling Silver Heart-Shaped Bon-Bon Dishes by Henry Matthews
A pair of Edwardian sterling silver heart-shaped bon-bon or trinket dishes, Birmingham hallmarked. Each dish features a wide, heavily pierced and embossed border decorated with scrolling foliage, floral sprays, and C-scrolls, framing a plain heart-shaped central well. Both items are raised on three cast ball feet. The design is executed in the Rococo Revival style.
Hallmarks:
Dish one: Stamped with maker mark H.M for Henry Matthews, lion passant for sterling silver, anchor for Birmingham assay office, and date letter j for 1908.
Dish two: Stamped with maker mark H.M for Henry Matthews, lion passant, anchor, and date letter m for 1911.
