Lot 651: A collection of decorative porcelain and enamelled thimbles with a wooden display rack
A collection of decorative collectable thimbles including a wooden display rack and a boxed example. The wooden wall-mounted rack is shaped as a house or barn with multiple individual compartments. It houses a series of porcelain thimbles, each featuring printed transfers of popular cartoon characters. Characters depicted include Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Snow White, Doc, Goofy, Pinocchio, and Peter Pan; Charlie Brown; and Sylvester. The thimbles are finished with gilt-toned rims. The lot also includes a single decorative thimble presented in a black felt-lined hinged box. This thimble is crafted in an enamelled style, shaped as a stylised owl head with blue and green textured enamel and gilt-toned features.
