Lot 665: A Pair of Chinese Style Blue and White Porcelain Fisherman Figurines
A pair of decorative porcelain figurines depicting Chinese fishermen, likely produced in the mid-to-late 20th century for the export market. The figurines are decorated in a blue and white style with underglaze blue floral and scroll patterns on the robes, featuring gilded accents on the shoulder poles, ropes, and baskets. One figurine depicts an elderly man with a white beard wearing a conical hat with a blue rim, carrying a blue-painted yoke from which hang a covered basket and two fish. The second figurine represents a younger man in similar attire carrying a blue-painted yoke with two baskets filled with fish. Both figures are mounted on integral rocky-effect bases. No maker’s marks or factory stamps are visible on the pieces. The items currently bear auction labels: a white sticker with the handwritten number 9249 and an auction tag from HCP Auctions South West marked Lot 665.
