Lot 666: Two Hand Carved Wooden Animal Figurines
A lot comprising two hand-carved wooden animal figurines, likely mid-20th-century African folk art or souvenir carvings. The first figurine depicts a rhinoceros, rendered in a stylised, rustic form from a medium-brown hardwood with a prominent grain. The second figurine depicts an antelope standing on a textured, integral rectangular base, carved from a dense, dark wood characteristic of ebony or ebonised hardwood. The rhinoceros figurine bears a lot sticker for HCP Auctions South West (Lot 666) and a handwritten paper tag numbered 9426. No maker’s marks, signatures, or factory stamps are present on either piece.
