Lot 817: An early 20th-century hardwood commode armchair
An early 20th-century commode armchair featuring a dark-stained hardwood frame. The chair is designed with a curved, horseshoe-style backrest that leads into short, squared armrests. The back and armrests are upholstered in a green patterned fabric with a repeating wave motif, secured by brass-toned upholstery studs. The piece is supported by four square-section legs. The upholstered seat is designed to be lifted, revealing an internal wooden seat with a central circular aperture intended for a chamber pot. A hinged wooden lid, fitted with a crescent-shaped handle, sits over the aperture. The chair bears a white auction label marked Lot 817. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible.
