Lot 847: A WWII British Air Ministry RAF Military Storage Chest Dated 1941
A WWII British Air Ministry (RAF) military storage chest constructed from softwood planks with a dark stained exterior finish. The chest is built with simple utilitarian plank construction and features a hinged lid reinforced with a raised wooden buffer block screwed to the top. The piece is fitted with iron hardware including wrap-around corner reinforcement plates and a central hasp and staple for securing the lid. The underside of the lid bears official stamped marks in black ink, featuring a crown symbol positioned above the letters A.M., a broad arrow (pheon) to the left, and the date 1941 below. This identifies the chest as official Royal Air Force equipment from the early years of the Second World War.
