Lot 860: A G.E.C. Soundeck Stereo Music Centre with Integrated Garrard 6-300 Turntable
A 1970s British-made G.E.C. Soundeck Stereo Music Centre, incorporating an integrated Garrard 6-300 automatic record changer, a top-loading cassette deck, and a multi-band radio tuner. The unit is housed in a wooden plinth with a hinged smoked Perspex dust cover. The front control panel features a brushed metal and black finish. The turntable is a Garrard model 6-300 capable of playing 33, 45, and 78 RPM records, featuring an automatic changer arm. The radio tuner includes bands for MW, LW, and VHF (FM), with an analogue dial displaying European station names such as Radio Eireann, Hilversum, and Luxembourg. The top-loading cassette player includes standard transport controls for play, record, rewind, fast forward, stop/eject, and pause, alongside a mechanical tape counter. Front-mounted rotary knobs provide control for volume, balance, bass, and treble, while push-buttons select between tape, disc, and radio bands. A G.E.C. oval badge is present on the front panel, alongside raised silver lettering reading STEREO MUSIC CENTRE. A manufacturer plaque on the turntable deck is marked Garrard 6-300.
