Lot 901: A Carved Oak Armchair in the Jacobean Revival Style with Tapestry Seat
An ornate armchair constructed from oak in the Jacobean Revival style, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The heavy oak frame features extensive relief carving, with acanthus leaf motifs decorating the shaped arms which terminate in prominent scrolled hand rests. The chair is supported by square-sectioned front legs with further carving, terminating in well-defined paw feet. The rectangular backrest is upholstered in a plain sage green velvet, while the seat is covered in a floral tapestry-style brocade with botanical motifs in muted tones. The seat is finished with a border of brass upholstery studs. Temporary auction lot or vendor labels are present on the arms, including a small white rectangular sticker numbered 905 and circular pink stickers featuring the handwritten number 32. No permanent manufacturer stamps, labels, or marks are visible on the frame.
