Lot 177: A weathered composite stone garden sundial on pedestal
A weathered garden sundial comprising a cast metal dial plate mounted on a decorative reconstituted stone pedestal. The circular stone top features a deep frieze with relief-carved floral swags. The assembly is supported by a columnar shaft resting on a tiered circular base. The metal dial plate is inscribed with Roman numeral hour markers from IV to XII and I to VIII, surrounding a central starburst motif. It includes two mottoes in Gothic script: I COUNT NONE BUT SUNNY HOURS along the upper arc and TIME FLIES TARRY NOT along the lower arc. The dial is fitted with an openwork gnomon.
