Lot 449: A Collection of Seven Pieces of Mid-Century Art Glass
This lot comprises seven pieces of mid-century art glass in various colours and forms. The collection includes a tall emerald green glass vase with a four-lobed weighted base in the style of Viking Glass Epic petal vases; a frosted lime green opaque vase with a satin finish, bulbous body, and ruffled rim; and a heavy sculptural light blue glass dish with an organic form. Also included are a large emerald green blown glass vase of tapering bulbous shape; a tall slender green glass trumpet vase featuring an etched grapevine pattern on a clear knopped stem and circular foot; a large amber-toned vessel with a honeycomb textured surface in the style of Italian Empoli glass on a clear ribbed stem; and a small cobalt blue glass bud vase. These items demonstrate several mid-century glassmaking techniques, including free-blown, mould-blown, and wheel-etched decoration. No maker marks or factory labels are visible on the items. A handwritten cardboard sign accompanying the lot reads: V: 932 A selection of Mid Century Art Glass.
