Lot 504: A Set of Four Hand-Painted Greek Ceramic Wall Plates Signed Spyridou
A set of four circular ceramic wall plates of Greek origin, each featuring a hand-painted Mediterranean landscape. The earthenware bodies are finished with a white glaze and decorated in a loose, watercolour style. The scenes depict traditional whitewashed island architecture with terracotta roofs and balconies, populated by figures in traditional dress. Two plates feature concentric bands of blue around the rim, while the other two have bands of pinkish-mauve. Each plate is signed Spyridou within the painted area. The reverse of the plates bears a circular black backstamp with a central stylised creature motif, inscribed MADE IN GREECE and HANDMADE. Each plate is equipped with a green plastic-coated wire hanger for wall mounting.
