Lot 806: A Royal Navy Commander's Metal Transit Chest, a Modern 6-Drawer Office Desk, and an Assortment of Household Ceramics and Glassware
A mid-20th-century Royal Navy metal transit chest or footlocker, likely constructed of galvanised steel. The chest features original white stencilled identification and destination markings for Commander W.B. Smith RN. The lid is stencilled COMMANDER W.B. SMITH RN (For Storage) THENCE, and the front face bears the address 3 TROON CRESCENT DRAYTON PORTSMOUTH. The chest is fitted with a heavy, natural-fibre rope carrying handle secured to the front face by two rectangular metal brackets. The lot includes a modern 6-drawer office desk with a light-oak effect laminate finish and a black frame. The desk features a double-pedestal design with integrated drawer pulls. The lot further comprises an assortment of household ceramics and glassware contained in three cardboard boxes. These items include decorative white porcelain figures, clear glassware, a lot tag numbered 808, a large banded turquoise and grey glazed ceramic planter, and a brown terracotta-style pitcher.
