Lot 874: Art Deco Figured Walnut Side-by-Side Bureau Cabinet
An Art Deco period side-by-side bureau cabinet, likely of British manufacture, dating to circa 1930s. The unit is constructed in one piece and finished with book-matched figured walnut veneers. To the left side is a large fall-front panel decorated with a distinctive semi-circular sunburst veneer pattern. This fall-front opens on two metal stays to reveal an interior fitted with a single horizontal shelf and two vertical dividers creating pigeonholes for stationery, constructed from a lighter-toned secondary timber. The interior includes a blank white rectangular label and a brass lock plate on the edge of the door. To the right side are two short drawers positioned above a lower cupboard section. The piece is fitted with six circular embossed metal pull knobs with a floral motif and stands on turned wooden front legs.
