Lot 944: William Henry Bartlett, 'Three Topographical Prints of Devon' (Signed)
A trio of topographical prints on paper, including hand-coloured steel engravings after William Henry Bartlett (1809–1854). The collection depicts coastal scenes in Devon. The first print is titled ORESTON, & THE CAT-WATER, NEAR PLYMOUTH. and is inscribed W. H. Bartlett to the lower left and J. Kernot to the lower right. The second print is titled SIDMOUTH, FROM THE CLIFFS, TOWARDS SEATON. and is inscribed W. H. Bartlett to the lower left and H. Wallis to the lower right, with P. Heath to the upper right image border. The third print is titled HIGH PEAK HILL FROM SIDMOUTH. and includes sub-captions for Picket Rock to the lower left and Peak Hill to the lower right. The Plymouth view and the Seaton view are housed in matching narrow black and gold frames with green and tan mounts respectively. The High Peak Hill view is presented in an ornate gilt-moulded frame with a white mount. A white auction lot sticker marked 944 is affixed to the glass of the central Plymouth view.
