Lot 521: A Collection of Novelty Ceramic Kitchenalia and Decorative Storage Jars
An assortment of novelty ceramic kitchenalia and decorative storage items. The collection is highlighted by a large earthenware biscuit jar modelled as a pig dressed in butcher attire, decorated with a blue and white striped apron, a red bow tie, and holding a grey cleaver. This jar features a two-part construction where the head serves as the lid. Also included is a relief-moulded earthenware bulldog head biscuit barrel finished in a glossy monochromatic brown glaze, with the word BISCUITS embossed on the front of the flat cap. A red ceramic container shaped as a double-decker bus is present, featuring the lettering POTTS BUS CO on the side. The lot further comprises a large relief-moulded ceramic wall plaque or dish decorated with tomatoes and yellow gourds in a basket, a white ceramic bottle inscribed SAUCE POT, and a lidded stoneware-style jar with a brown-glazed lid. Additional pieces include a small cylindrical canister with hand-painted floral decoration, a miniature clock depicting a landscape scene, and various small tins and ceramic sundries.
