Lot 705: Natural Purple Acorn Barnacle Cluster
A natural history specimen comprising a cluster of purple acorn barnacles, identified as Megabalanus tintinnabulum. The specimen consists of multiple individual barnacle shells naturally fused together into a single structural unit. The exterior surfaces exhibit characteristic vertical ribbing and striations with a natural colouration of rose-pink and purple hues against a creamy-white ground. Each individual barnacle shell features a large, open operculum. The lot is accompanied by a modern auction tag for HCP Auctions South West, Lot 705, and a handwritten descriptive note indicating its suitability for use in aquariums or as an air plant holder.
