Lot 706: Two Scheurich-Keramik Mid-Century West German Art Pottery Vases
This lot comprises two earthenware art pottery vases produced by Scheurich-Keramik in West Germany during the mid-20th century. The larger item is a handled pitcher-style vase, model 490-25, featuring a prominent Fat Lava style glaze. The decoration consists of a vibrant red and orange glossy ground overlaid with a heavy, textured black volcanic drip glaze. The form includes a flared rim and a decorative scroll at the lower handle terminal. The base is embossed with the marks Scheurich-KERAMIK, W.GERMANY, and 490-25. The second piece is a cylindrical vase, model 242-22, with a stepped shoulder and straight neck. It features a three-tone layered drip glaze, with a dark chocolate brown upper portion overlapping a textured white band and a speckled ochre-brown base. The base is embossed with the marks 242-22 and W.GERMANY.
