Lot 737: A Victorian Hinks and Son Cast Iron Wall Mounted Oil Lamp
A Victorian-era wall-mounted oil lamp assembly manufactured by Hinks and Son of Birmingham, England. The assembly comprises an ornate cast iron wall bracket and a matching diamond-shaped mounting plate, both decorated with intricate openwork scrolling foliate and fleur-de-lis motifs in a dark patinated finish. The set includes a clear glass bulbous oil font designed to sit within a decorative cast metal cradle attached to the bracket arm. The brass burner mechanism is clearly stamped Hinks and Son Patent on both the burner collar and the wick adjuster knob. Included is a clear glass chimney featuring a beaded upper rim. The mounting plate displays an incised diamond-shaped British Registry mark, though the individual characters are obscured by oxidation.
