Lot 738: A Group of Chinese Famille Rose Mun Shou Pattern Export Porcelain Tableware
A collection of Chinese export porcelain decorated in the Mun Shou pattern, also known as the Longevity pattern. The group consists of two bowls, five spoons, and three rectangular chopstick rests. Each item is crafted from white porcelain and decorated with famille rose style enamels. The design features a vibrant rose-pink ground with scrolling lotus flowers and foliage. The bowls are set with circular white medallions containing iron-red characters, specifically 無 (wú) and 疆 (jiāng). These characters form part of the auspicious phrase 萬壽無疆 (wàn shòu wú jiāng), translating to ten thousand years of long life without end. The bowls are finished with a yellow-ground meander (Greek key) border at the rim and a blue-ground border at the base. The spoons each feature a centrally placed red 壽 (shòu) character signifying longevity. The chopstick rests are decorated with a stylised red longevity character on a patterned pink ground. This type of porcelain was produced in Jingdezhen, China, in the mid-to-late 20th century.
