Lot 739: A Collection of UK Commemorative Coins and a British Trade Dollar
A collection of coins including various UK commemorative crowns and a British Trade Dollar. The group contains a 1953 Coronation crown featuring four shields of the United Kingdom arranged in a cross, multiple 1972 Silver Wedding crowns with a crowned EP monogram within a floral wreath, and a 1977 Silver Jubilee crown depicting Queen Elizabeth II on horseback. Also included is a five-pound commemorative coin and a twelve-sided brass-toned threepence. The British Trade Dollar features a standing figure of Britannia with a trident and shield within a Greek key border. One crown is housed in a simple plastic protective sleeve. The commemorative pieces are primarily composed of cupro-nickel. The British Trade Dollar was issued for use in the Far East to compete with other trade coins of the period.
