Lot 825: Very Large British Royal Navy White Ensign Flag
A large-scale British Royal Navy White Ensign flag of traditional multi-piece stitched construction. The ensign features the Union Flag in the canton on a white field, which is divided into four quadrants by a red Cross of Saint George. The flag is constructed from multiple panels of fabric joined with machine-stitched seams. The hoist edge is finished with a heavy-duty white canvas header tape featuring a rope attachment for flying. This method of construction, using individually sewn components rather than a printed design, is characteristic of traditional naval flags. There are faint, dark markings present on the white header tape, though these are not clearly legible at the time of cataloguing.
