Lot 898: A Contemporary Upholstered Slipper Chair and a Lady and the Unicorn Tapestry Cushion
A contemporary slipper chair and a decorative tapestry cushion. The chair is designed with a low-profile, armless silhouette and a slightly raked back. It is upholstered in a coarse-textured, oatmeal-coloured fabric with a prominent diagonal twill weave. The seat is supported by four square, tapered legs constructed from a light-toned hardwood. The rectangular cushion features a machine-woven tapestry face based on the famous late 15th-century French series The Lady and the Unicorn (La Dame a la licorne). The woven scene depicts a unicorn and trees against a red millefleurs background, specifically referencing the tapestry representing the sense of Touch. The reverse of the cushion is a plain-coloured fabric. No manufacturer marks are visible on the exterior of the items.
