Lot 1028: A Large 20th Century Winter River Landscape Oil on Canvas
A decorative oil on canvas painting depicting a tranquil winter river landscape. The composition features a cluster of silver birch trees on a snow-dusted bank to the left, with several seagulls in flight over a misty body of water. In the foreground, weathered wooden groynes or fence posts protrude from the marshy shoreline. The work is executed in a painterly style with a palette dominated by cool blues, greys, and earthy ochres, featuring prominent impasto highlights on the snow and reeds. The brushwork is broad and atmospheric, particularly in the wet-in-wet blending of the sky and water. No artist signature or date is visible on the front of the canvas.
