Lot 364: W.A.S. Benson Arts and Crafts Copper Rise and Fall Pendant Light
An Arts and Crafts period copper rise and fall pendant light by the renowned British designer W.A.S. Benson. The fixture features a large conical shade with a spun copper exterior and a hand-hammered interior surface designed to diffuse light effectively. The set is complete with its original bulbous copper counterweight and a matching circular copper ceiling rose. These components are connected by a braided fabric-covered electrical cord that runs through two cast metal pulley wheels. The interior of the shade is fitted with a central ceramic-lined metal light socket for a B22 bayonet bulb. Near the central aperture on the interior of the shade, there is an impressed maker mark reading W.A.S. BENSON arranged in an arc.
