Lot 789: A German Space-Age Brushed Aluminium and Smoked-Glass Rectangular Coffee Table, Circa 1970
A sculptural German modernist rectangular coffee table, dating from approximately the late 1960s to early 1970s, forming a companion to the square table in the preceding lot. The architectural frame is constructed from broad, interlocking bent brushed-aluminium sections, with a substantial removable smoked-glass top resting within a supported recessed opening.
An attractive anonymous Space-Age design, sometimes compared stylistically with the work of Georges Frydman, although no manufacturer’s label or definitive designer attribution has been found.
