Lot 823: Two Items comprising a Rustic Primitive Split-Log Bench and a Victorian Style Wirework Birdcage
This lot consists of a rustic primitive bench and a decorative birdcage in the Victorian style. The bench is fashioned from a single heavy split log, retaining a natural curved underside and a heavily weathered top surface. The wood exhibits deep longitudinal fissures and a greyed patina consistent with age and exposure. It is supported by four rectangular-section wooden legs mortised into the log top, reinforced with two cross-stretchers forming a sturdy H-frame base. The accompanying birdcage features a dome-top design inspired by Victorian aviaries, constructed from wire and wood with a white painted finish. It includes ornate scrollwork detailing and a central ring finial.
