Lot 931: A Mahogany-Stained Three-Tier Folding Cake Stand and a Violin-Form Wooden Board
A mahogany-stained wooden folding cake stand, traditionally known as a curat’s delight. The stand features three circular wooden tiers, each detailed with a raised moulded rim and a central decorative base metal boss. The framework consists of two uprights joined by a curved loop handle at the top, facilitating a folding mechanism for flat storage. Accompanying the stand is a thick wooden board cut into the silhouette of a violin or cello body, which appears to be a decorative novelty board or an unfinished instrument panel. The light-toned wooden board features two black-painted f-holes and a short, turned wooden handle or post attached to the upper edge. The cake stand bears a blue sticker numbered 13, and the wooden board carries an auction label for lot 931.
