Lot 161: A Vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Die-cast 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540 K
A vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear die-cast 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540 K, produced by Lesney Products & Co. Ltd. in the late 1970s. The model features silver-coloured bodywork contrasted by black sweeping mudguards and a red plastic interior. Detailed components include a chrome-plated front bumper, radiator grille, and headlights, along with a yellow plastic windscreen frame. The car is fitted with wire-spoke wheels and white-wall tyres, with two additional spare wheels mounted to the rear deck. The chrome-plated base plate is embossed with the Matchbox logo and text reading MODELS OF YESTERYEAR Y-20, MERCEDES-BENZ 540 K, 1937, LESNEY PROD. & CO. LTD., MADE IN ENGLAND, and a copyright date of 1978.
