Lot 164: A Vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Die-cast 1912 Ford Model T Tanker
A vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear die-cast 1912 Ford Model T tanker, presented in its original window display box. The vehicle represents a fuel delivery truck from the 1912-1916 period, constructed with a die-cast metal body and chassis featuring gold-tone plastic components for the radiator and lamps. The model is finished in a bright yellow livery with black fenders and running boards, decorated with red and yellow Shell pecten logos and SHELL MOTOR SPIRIT text on the tank. Cab doors feature red printed text reading SHELL-MEX LTD. KINGSWAY LONDON W.C.2, and a white plastic sign mounted to the cab roof reads SHELL in red lettering. The black-painted baseplate features raised lettering reading MATCHBOX, MADE IN MACAU, MATCHBOX INT’L LTD, MODELS OF YESTERYEAR, 1912 FORD MODEL T, and a copyright symbol followed by 1986.
