Lot 239: A Vintage Lesney Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Fowler Showman Engine
A vintage Lesney Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Fowler Showman Engine, model number Y-9. This die-cast metal model is finished in a deep maroon livery with a cream-coloured canopy and vibrant yellow spoked wheels fitted with grey tyres. The sides of the roof canopy feature decorative adhesive transfers reading LESNEY’S MODERN AMUSEMENTS in yellow lettering. The underside of the maroon chassis is embossed with the readable marks MADE IN ENGLAND and BY LESNEY. The engine includes a black-painted chimney, detailed boiler assembly, and free-rolling wheels. It is presented in a non-original plain brown cardboard storage box bearing a third-party auction label for HCP Auctions South West reading Lot 239 and handwritten identification FOWLER ENGINE YESTERYEAR NO 9 in blue ink.
