Lot 1003: An Antique Late Victorian Arts and Crafts Oak Reclining Armchair
An antique Late Victorian Arts and Crafts reclining armchair constructed from dark-stained oak. The frame features broad, flat armrests supported by vertical slats to the sides and a solid wood seat base. The backrest incorporates a reclining mechanism consisting of a wooden rod that slots into one of four notches positioned along the rear arm supports. The chair is fitted with two loose, modern upholstered cushions in a green and cream floral damask-patterned fabric with decorative borders. No original manufacturer marks or stamps are visible on the frame. A white adhesive auction label is attached to the right armrest reading H&H Auctions South West, Lot 1003, and www.h-h-auctions.com.

Condition report:
The dark-stained oak frame shows visible surface scuffs, light scratches, and wear to the finish, particularly along the edges of the armrests and the reclining notches (photo 1). There is an accumulation of dust and light debris in the joints and between the slats (photo 2). The modern upholstery is in good, clean condition with no visible tears or significant stains (photo 1). The reclining mechanism is functional and the structure remains sound.
