Lot 1004: A Vintage Vulcanised Fibre Suitcase and Assorted Hand Tools
A vintage vulcanised fibre suitcase and assorted hand tools, including a Stanley manual drill. The suitcase features a brown textured exterior with a leather carrying handle and metal latches. The interior lid bears a large blue handwritten ‘B’ and a small paper label reading ‘VULCANIZED FIBRE’. Included within is a manual eggbeater-style drill with an orange-painted gear wheel featuring embossed text reading ‘STANLEY’ and ‘ENGLAND’, with ‘MADE IN ENGLAND’ marked below. Other items include an orange plastic 3m Blackspur tape measure, a boxed GET brand double white wall socket with a price sticker reading ‘£5.99’, and a green box of Plasplugs tile spacers. The collection further comprises pliers with red plastic-coated handles, various paintbrushes including one marked ‘TESCO’, a ball-peen hammer, an adjustable wrench, and a black and yellow flashlight. A fragment of a mid-1970s newspaper mentioning ‘Triumph’, ‘NVT’, and ‘Meriden’ is also included.
Condition report:
The suitcase shows scuffing to the exterior edges and corners (photo 1). The interior lining is worn (photo 1). The tools are in a used condition with visible surface oxidation to the metal parts and general wear to the handles (photo 2). Electrical items and the flashlight have not been tested.
