Lot 1005: A Set of Four Antique George III Revival Mahogany Dining Chairs
A set of four antique George III revival mahogany dining chairs. Each chair features a shaped top rail with prominent, upturned ears above a central pierced splat, intricately carved with scrolling motifs and vertical slats in the George III fashion. The frames are constructed with drop-in seat pads upholstered in a cream-coloured floral damask fabric, supported by square-section legs joined by an H-stretcher. The mahogany woodwork displays a dark, aged patina. A small white adhesive label is present on the top rail of two chairs, bearing the handwritten number 13. One chair bears a printed auction label on the top rail reading Lot 1005 above a barcode. No further manufacturer marks or labels are visible on the frames or under the seat pads.

Condition report:
The chairs are in poor condition and require significant restoration. The upholstery is heavily soiled and exhibits prominent staining, most notably a series of linear rust-coloured marks across one seat pad (photo 1 and photo 4). The mahogany frames show widespread surface wear including scratches, scuffs, and small indentations consistent with age and storage (photo 2, photo 3, and photo 5). The finish is dull and worn in several places. All chairs show an accumulation of dust, debris, and cobwebs (photo 5).
