Lot 1046: A Mid-Century Queen Anne Revival Burr Walnut Storage Cabinet
A mid-century Queen Anne revival burr walnut storage cabinet, featuring a rectangular top with highly figured book-matched burr walnut veneers. The top surface is finished with a fine inlaid stringing border and a cross-banded outer edge. The front is configured with two doors, each displaying matched burr walnut panels and fitted with ornate cast metal foliate escutcheons. The cabinet is supported by four carved cabriole legs with shell-carved knees, terminating in scroll feet. It is supplied with a single key featuring a decorative white tassel. A white rectangular adhesive label on the top right corner reads ‘HCP / HCP Auctions South West / Lot 1046 / www.hcpauctions.net’ and a pink circular adhesive label on the lower left front edge is marked ’32’. No maker’s marks are visible on the exterior.

Condition report:
The cabinet is in fair condition but exhibits significant finish issues to the upper surface. The top shows extensive surface scratching, scuffs, and several large areas of white hazy bloom consistent with moisture damage (photo 1). There are small nicks and minor areas of veneer loss along the front and side edges of the top (photo 1). The door panels and legs show light surface wear and occasional small scuffs consistent with age and use (photo 2).
