Lot 1045: A Vintage Kienzle Shell-Encrusted Mantel Clock and A Collection of Decorative Curiosities
A vintage Kienzle shell-encrusted mantel clock and a collection of decorative curiosities. The primary item is a mid-20th century rectangular mantel clock, featuring a wooden case heavily decorated in a folk art style with an arrangement of assorted seashells, including scallop and cowry shells, and a border of small red beads. The white dial displays black Arabic numerals and the printed name Kienzle is clearly visible below the twelve o’clock position. The lot also includes a large, bleached specimen of a knobby starfish (Protoreaster nodosus). Further items consist of a decorative angel figurine with a painted composition head and golden wings, dressed in a red vest and pink mesh skirt; a white pierced ceramic tea light holder featuring avian and floral motifs; a green resin tree-form ornament; a circular gold sequinned pincushion; a small brass handbell; and a light blue fabric pouch with a red floral print.
Condition report:
The items are offered in a used, as-found condition with visible surface dust and light grime across the collection (photo 1). The shell-encrusted clock shows minor paint loss to the wooden frame and general dust accumulation within the shell work; the movement is untested and functionality is not guaranteed (photo 3). The starfish specimen is intact but displays minor surface wear. The angel doll\'s clothing is wrinkled and dusty (photo 2). The green resin ornament and ceramic tea light holder appear structurally sound but require cleaning.
