Lot 1052: An Antique Set of Chippendale Revival Mahogany Dining Chairs
An antique set of Chippendale revival mahogany dining chairs, comprising at least four side chairs with ornate ribbon-back splats. The chairs are constructed from mahogany and feature pierced and carved C-scroll and foliate decoration to the backrests. The frames are supported by square tapering legs joined by H-frame stretchers, utilising traditional mortise and tenon joinery at the structural junctions. Each chair is fitted with a drop-in seat upholstered in a textured, olive-green woven fabric. The wooden frames bear white rectangular adhesive inventory stickers; one sticker is marked with handwritten characters 4994, and another chair bears a sticker marked 1052 above a second sticker reading 4994. No manufacturer labels, stamps, or signatures are visible on the frames or seat rails.

Condition report:
The mahogany frames show general surface wear consistent with age and use, including minor scuffs, scratches, and small indentations throughout (photos 1 and 2). The olive-green upholstery remains intact but displays light soiling and signs of regular use (photo 1). There is visible fraying to the internal webbing on the underside of one chair (photo 2).
