Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £3

Estimated price: £3 - £5

Buyer's Premium:

A mid-century beech and elm Windsor hoop-back side chair, featuring a classic spindle-back design with a steam-bent frame. The chair is constructed with a solid elm saddle seat displaying a prominent decorative grain, into which the backrest and legs are socketed. The back consists of a steam-bent beech hoop containing five vertical spindles. The piece is supported by four tapered beech legs socketed directly into the underside of the seat. A white rectangular paper inventory label is adhered to the right-hand edge of the seat, bearing the printed text HCP Auctions South West and Lot 999. A small blue circular adhesive sticker is applied to the upper surface of the seat with the handwritten number 13. No original manufacturer marks or stamps are visible on the wood surfaces.

Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.

Condition report:

The chair is in used condition with significant surface wear. There is notable thinning and loss to the original lacquer finish on the elm seat, showing the raw wood grain (photo 1). General scuffs, light scratches, and small nicks are present throughout the beech hoop, spindles, and legs, consistent with age and domestic use (photo 2). The chair appears structurally sound but requires refinishing to the timber surfaces.
