Lot 1130: A Vintage Mahogany-toned Octagonal Two-Tier Side Table / Occasional Table
A vintage mahogany-toned octagonal two-tier side table / occasional table of mid-to-late 20th-century manufacture. The table features a faceted octagonal top decorated with a radial sunburst pattern of mahogany-toned veneers, bordered by straight-grain banding and finished with a gold-tone metallic trim to the outer edge. The top is supported by four turned spindle legs with square-block joinery, leading to a lower octagonal shelf with a woven cane inset panel. The legs terminate in square block feet. The top surface bears two adhesive labels: a small, plain pink circular sticker and a white rectangular paper label with handwritten characters in blue ink reading DE11 and 1130, which do not identify a specific maker.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
The table top exhibits visible surface scratches, scuffs, and minor wear to the lacquer finish throughout (photo 1). The gold-tone metallic trim shows some dulling and light wear (photo 2). The wooden legs and frame show scattered small nicks, scuffs, and general signs of use, particularly towards the feet (photo 2). The cane-inset lower shelf appears structurally sound and intact, though it has accumulated dust in the weave (photo 2). General dust and light grime are present in the crevices of the turnery.
