Lot 1129: A Collection of Vintage Meccano Construction Components and Tools
A collection of vintage Meccano construction components and tools, presented across multiple storage containers. The group features a substantial quantity of perforated metal plates and strips in yellow, blue, and galvanised steel finishes, accompanied by mechanical parts including wheels with rubber tyres, nylon and metal gears, axles, and pulleys. Several small electric motors and associated wiring are included, notably a custom-made yellow perforated metal box fitted with a black power cord and a three-pin UK plug. The lot contains several instruction manuals, specifically for the Meccano Evolution series, providing building guides in multiple languages. The components are housed in a teal and orange heavy-duty plastic toolbox, a black plastic organiser tray embossed with the characters CURVER, and a large galvanised sheet-metal chest. A printed red and white oval logo bearing the characters MECCANO is visible on the manuals, along with a white adhesive label reading HCP Auctions South West and the lot number 1129.
Condition report:
The components are in used, mixed condition throughout. Metal parts exhibit varying degrees of surface wear, minor bends, and light oxidation, which is particularly evident on the older galvanised pieces and the interior of the sheet-metal chest (photo 1). The plastic components appear generally sound, although some show signs of dust accumulation from storage (photo 2). The instruction manuals are creased and show wear at the edges consistent with use (photo 1). The storage containers display heavy surface scratches and oxidation (photo 1). Electrical components and wiring are untested and should be professionally inspected prior to use.
