Lot 1148: A Vintage Capiz Shell and Coconut Inlay Column Floor Lamp
A vintage capiz shell and coconut inlay column floor lamp of tall square-section form. The lamp is constructed with four vertical panels on a metal wire frame, decorated with naturalistic materials in a vertical wavy design. One section features large, flat, iridescent capiz shell discs in shades of cream, tan, and dark brown. The adjacent sections are densely inlaid with small, dark circular rings, which appear to be cross-sections of coconut shell or bamboo. The lamp is fitted with a single light bulb socket at the interior base and includes a black electrical cord with an integrated in-line rocker switch. A white safety label is attached to the internal cord, printed with the word IMPORTANT and MAX followed by a wattage rating that is partially illegible. No manufacturer name or brand is visible on the piece.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
The lamp shows signs of use consistent with age. A horizontal fracture is visible across one of the central capiz discs on a main panel (photo 1). There is light surface dust overall and minor oxidation to the exposed metal wire frame at the top (photo 1). The electrical components include an in-line switch (photo 2), but the item is sold as untested and should be inspected by a qualified professional before use.
