Lot 1157: Two Vintage Metal Floor Lamps and Uplighters
Two vintage metal floor lamps and uplighters in contrasting finishes. The first lamp is a slender torchère-style uplighter constructed from brass-finished metal, featuring a weighted circular base with a single vertical pole and an additional parallel support rod. It terminates in a shallow, flared metal bowl-form shade. The second lamp is a mother and child style floor lamp in a brushed satin-finish metal. This piece features twin uprights rising from a circular base; the taller stem supports a large bowl uplighter shade, while a secondary adjustable arm holds a smaller matching reading light. A central control box is mounted with two rotary dimmer switches. Both lamps are fitted with black power cords and standard UK 3-pin plugs. A small white adhesive tag is located on the central pole of the brass lamp, and a paper lot tag hand-inscribed with 2427 lamp with reading lamp is attached to the upper stem of the brushed metal lamp.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
The brass-finished lamp shows significant surface pitting, tarnishing, and oxidation, particularly across the circular base (photo 1). The brushed metal lamp appears in generally good condition with minor surface scuffs and accumulated dust consistent with age and previous use. Both lamps are sold as untested and require inspection by a qualified electrician before use.
