Lot 465: A Vintage Hand-Carved Wooden Djembe Drum
A vintage hand-carved wooden djembe drum of traditional goblet form, constructed from a single piece of hollowed timber. The drum features a wide, rounded bowl tapering to a narrower cylindrical base, with the interior showing coarse tool marks from the carving process. The base is decorated with a band of hand-painted dot art in white, yellow, and orange, depicting wavy lines and concentric circles. It utilises a traditional rope-tensioning system consisting of black braided cord and two metal rings. A large piece of masking tape is adhered to the body, bearing the handwritten characters 46717 in blue ink, while a smaller white rectangular adhesive label near the neck is printed L 465. No manufacturer stamps or signatures are present.
