Lot 556: An Antique and Vintage Collection of Wellington China and Royal Albert Bone China Teaware
An antique and vintage collection of Wellington China and Royal Albert bone china teaware, including a partial service and additional cabinet pieces, together with a large wooden pepper mill. The partial service by J.H. Cope and Co consists of four pedestal-style teacups, six side plates, and five saucers, all decorated in a transfer-printed pattern numbered 4899 featuring a black scrolling lattice border with pink rose swags and gilded rims. The base of these pieces bears a printed black mark showing a crown above WELLINGTON CHINA, J. H. C. & Co, LONGTON ENGLAND. Also included is one Royal Albert teacup and one matching saucer in the Moss Rose pattern, characterised by a fluted form and sprays of pink roses. This cup is marked to the underside in red with ROYAL ALBERT, Bone China, ENGLAND, and MOSS ROSE. The lot is completed by a large baluster-form pepper mill in dark-stained wood with a brass top nut; though a vendor note attributes this to Peugeot, no maker’s name is readable on the item.
