Lot 583: A Collection of Antique and Vintage Ceramics, Glassware, and a Carved Stone Lion
A collection of antique and vintage ceramics, glassware, and a carved stone lion, featuring an assortment of decorative objects from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The ceramic portion includes a Minton teacup and saucer decorated in a traditional Imari palette with floral motifs in iron red, cobalt blue, and gilt. The base of the cup bears a printed red mark comprising a crown above the words MADE IN ENGLAND with a small letter M to the left, and a circular red adhesive label. Also present is a teacup with a pale green interior and floral border, a small white ceramic bottle with hand-painted floral sprigs, a relief-moulded cream jug, and a large red transferware plate depicting a romantic landscape. The glassware includes a tall faceted cut glass vase, a faceted decanter with a matching stopper, a small square glass bottle, and a rectangular glass salt cellar. The collection is completed by a carved white stone figurine, likely alabaster, depicting a reclining lion on a rectangular plinth.
Condition report:
The items are in varied condition consistent with age and long-term storage, exhibiting a layer of surface dust and grime throughout. The Minton teacup shows minor rubbing to the gilt rims. The relief-moulded jug shows some interior staining. The stone lion has minor surface abrasions and ingrained dirt to the recessed areas. No significant chips or cracks were observed upon visual inspection.
