Start price: £10

Estimated price: £10 - £15

Buyer's Premium:

A vintage Mediterranean style hand-painted ceramic and wrought iron chandelier, featuring a central pierced ceramic body and two scrolled lighting arms. The fixture is designed with a bulbous glazed earthenware body in a white tin-glaze ground, decorated with hand-painted floral motifs in blue, red, and green, framed by horizontal bands in orange and blue. The ceramic body is further ornamented with a series of four-lobed clover-shaped piercings. Two scrolled wrought iron arms project from a central vertical metal support, each terminating in a candelabra-style bulb socket housed within decorative metal sleeves. The assembly is finished with a matching ceramic terminal at the base and a metal hanging loop with a section of chain at the apex. A modern white rectangular adhesive auction label is affixed to the ceramic body, which reads HCP Auctions South West Lot 584 www.hcpauctions.net. There are no original maker’s marks, signatures, or factory stamps visible on the exterior or accessible interior portions of the fixture. This vintage item is sold for decorative purposes only and must be inspected and rewired by a qualified electrician prior to use.

Condition report:

The glazed ceramic components appear to be in good overall condition without any obvious chips or cracks (photo 1). The wrought iron framework, central support, and socket covers exhibit significant surface rust and corrosion throughout (photo 2). The electrical components, including the internal wiring and faux-candle socket sleeves, are heavily aged and discoloured; one of the candle sleeves is missing or substantially damaged (photo 2). The entire fixture shows a buildup of surface dust and grime.
