Lot 628: A Vintage Birch and Wood Besom Broom
A vintage birch and wood besom broom of traditional construction. The broom features a weathered wooden handle with a natural grain and minor surface abrasions. The brush head is composed of a bundle of fine twigs, gathered and secured to the handle end by a flat metal collar and a separate wire binding. The twig bundle is splayed and uneven at the ends, consistent with its handmade assembly and intended use. A small, white rectangular adhesive label is affixed to the handle near the junction with the twig bundle, but the characters are not legible. There are no maker’s marks, signatures, or stamps discernible on the handle or metal fittings.

The twig bundle is splayed and uneven at the ends, showing characteristics consistent with age and use (photo 1). The wooden handle exhibits minor surface abrasions and carries a small, illegible white adhesive label (photo 1). No other visible faults are present.
