Lot 643: A Collection of Ten Assorted Vintage Costume Jewellery Brooches and Pins
A collection of ten assorted vintage costume jewellery brooches and pins featuring various decorative motifs and materials. The assortment includes a novelty ice skate brooch with a yellow enamelled boot and silver-tone blade, alongside an oval silver-tone foliate brooch set with a central green cabochon and iridescent aurora borealis rhinestones. A circular gilt and enamel badge features a blue border with legible gold-coloured characters reading CALLINGTON BOWLING CLUB surrounding a red and white heraldic crest. A modernist two-tone brooch is formed of intertwined gold and silver-tone metal bands, while a small gold-tone elephant pin is finished in peach and pink enamel. The collection also contains a gold-tone bar brooch set with a central oval cameo depicting a female profile, a gold-tone bar pin set with ten graduated white faux pearls, and a gilt horseshoe equestrian pin featuring a horse head profile and black enamelled characters reading BHS. A second cameo brooch shows a female profile within a silver-tone filigree frame. The final piece is an ornate gold-tone openwork floral brooch set with a variety of multi-coloured faceted stones in pink, green, and amber tones, accented with clear rhinestones.
Condition report:
The collection is in mixed vintage condition. The yellow novelty ice skate brooch displays significant and extensive chipping and loss to the enamel finish across the boot (photo 1). The enamelled elephant pin shows minor surface wear to the finish (photo 1). General light surface scratches and tarnishing are present across the metallic surfaces of the lot, consistent with age and use. All stones in the multi-coloured floral brooch and the faux pearls in the bar pin appear to be present and secure from the frontal view.
