Lot 644: A Collection of Vintage Wade Glazed Ceramic Animal Figurines
A collection of vintage Wade glazed ceramic animal figurines, comprising four distinct miniature models finished in high-gloss glazes. The assortment includes a mare and foal figure, featuring a light tan grazing horse with a smaller brown foal standing upon its back, set on an oval base with green glaze accents. A seated cocker spaniel dog is finished in a mottled dark and light brown glaze, while a second standing horse is depicted in a grazing pose with a brown mane and tail. The collection also includes a standing zebra figurine decorated with brown stripes over a pale ground, featuring a small patch of green glaze to the base. Each piece is press-moulded in a style characteristic of the mid-20th-century Wade Whimsies series. No maker’s marks or backstamps are legible on the visible surfaces of the figurines; manufacturer markings for these items are typically located on the underside of the base, which is not shown. A white adhesive lot label from HCP Auctions South West is present, reading Lot 644.
