Lot 684: A Vintage Italian Style Polychrome Relief-Molded Floral Landscape Plaque
A vintage Italian style polychrome relief-molded floral landscape plaque, featuring a rectangular base with a textured undulating green surface designed to resemble a grassy mound. The surface is densely decorated with multiple clusters of three-dimensional floral elements, including yellow and orange daisies, pink and white blossoms, and purple and white flowers with yellow centres. The piece is supported by four white-painted architectural-style feet positioned at the corners. The underside is finished with a metallic gold and green wash. No maker’s marks, backstamps, or incised characters are visible on the base or body. The item bears a white adhesive auction lot label on the upper surface which reads ‘HCP Auctions South West’, ‘Lot 684’, and ‘www.hcpauctions.net’.
Condition report:
The item is in generally good decorative condition. On the underside, three grey felt protective pads are present; one appears to be missing (photo 2). There is some minor wear and unevenness to the painted gold finish on the flat underside (photo 2). The complex relief-molded surface shows no immediately apparent chips or losses to the delicate floral petals (photo 1).
