Buyer's Premium:

A collection of vintage mid-century Keele Street Pottery hand-painted earthenware cottage-ware table items, comprising a matching teapot, lidded sugar bowl, and milk jug. Each piece is relief-moulded to resemble a traditional country cottage with a textured thatched roof and rustic brown branch-style handles and spouts. The assortment further includes a larger cottage-form biscuit barrel with a bentwood bale handle, a circular lidded jar relief-moulded with a garden scene and a green door bearing the words PIXIE COTTAGE in relief, a ceramic beehive-form honey pot with relief-moulded bees and a bee finial, and a two-story house money box with a red tiled roof. The square-based cottage-ware items bear a circular black underglaze stamp to the base reading KEELE ST POTTERY CO LTD in the outer ring, MADE IN STAFFORDSHIRE ENGLAND in the inner ring, and Hand Painted in cursive at the centre. These pieces also feature the incised characters K S P and an impressed ENGLAND mark alongside three dark brown painter’s dots. One item retains a white adhesive label reading 8752 and an auction lot sticker from HCP Auctions South West for lot 743.

Condition report:

The collection is in good vintage condition overall. The Pixie Cottage jar exhibits visible paint loss and surface wear to the raised details on the door and green base (photo 2). The unglazed base rim of the sugar bowl shows typical shelf wear and surface dirt (photo 4). Fine crazing is visible to the glaze on several pieces, and the wicker handle on the biscuit barrel has darkened with age but remains intact (photo 1). No significant chips or cracks are visible to the main bodies or lids.
